Description

Another shot of the same stream only further down from where I was the first time.

The lighting in this location was not as good, so I had a hard time getting a decnt exposure. So I mixed a couple of shots together to get this one.

Edit: After some comments, I decided to work with only one exposure. I have replaced the original photo with the one you see here.

Well....to be honest I like your previous one very much....but I like this one better.....the water is very nice....and the smal patches of colors are wonderful!!I only would crop a little from the top.....up the the top edge of the rock at the right....I think that would direct the attention more to small patches of colors....Well done Samson!!!!

Yeah, I don't know. It seems to be missing something. There's something weird about the leaves on the rock in the middle left-hand side, the color's strange (maybe from combining the exposures?). There also seems to be patches of graininess throughout the shot. I definitely think the other one was a bit more successful.

Drat that Robert Mekis method of sharpening! I'll probably delete this and try again.

Well, I changed it. This new image is just one exposure, with some work in Photoshop to compensate for the overexposed water and underexposed rocks. I threw the background out of focus in Photoshop so it wouldn't be as distracting. I also cropped it and applied Robert Mekis' sharpening to it the right way. I didn't want to crop too much as I don't want the image to be square. Besides, I really like all that's going on in the background.

Hope this is better.

I never saw the original post.
Please give us a link to the original if you change it.
Then the late ones like me have a chance to compare and learn... ;)
This later post is very nice. The water is like a dream.
I still prefer These Woods by Team member, GFXartist sponsor emarts as it included more
ie those lovely colored trees.

But keep them coming in this series!

At first when I clicked on it my browser had cached it, so the old one came up...and I was like, "Uhh..." but then I refreshed and saw that you've changed it. A definite improvement. The leaves aren't "glowing" anymore :p I like how the water really draws attention and moves your eye through the piece - I think it was competing too much before. Much better (thumbup)

moserArtist, I'd rather not put an inferior image up. I don't want people comparing the two. I'd rather get crits on the image now, how it is. I've got other pictures from this series, but they need a lot more help than this image did. I was experimenting for the first time with long exposures and most of my other shots had the water completely washed out.

Edit: Ah, heck here's the link: http://em-arts.com/art/angelhair716.jpg

I really like the shot, it appears to be a beautiful place, I don't see a lot of contrast in the shot, no real highs, no real darks. But its an excellent shot! Everything else is wonderful!
