Description

I wanted to bring out the color and texture of this scene. The original image was too overwhelming, so I tried to simplify it by cropping it. But I also thought the the focal point (the fountain statue) was lost in it's surroundings. So I enlarged it. So yes, technically it's a manipulated photo, but if I didn't tell you, would you know?

I haven't noticed this before, but the brighter parts of the image seem to be slightly oversharpened (not the darker ones, though).
Another thing is the blue boy, he's the one who makes it really unusual and the one who makes it look slightly odd... in short, the blue colour is a bit disturbing, but not too much (the more i look at it the less disturbing it is, so it might be just me).
Overall, it's a very good capture, though.

The sharpness in the foliage really pops out - gives it the feeling of a drawing, very stylistic and very effective. The statue doesn't look quite as defined - in the sense that it feels like it has a slightly different style somehow... it's more textured - that works well for the stonework in the background because it allows it to sit back but the statue needs to push forward a bit. I have no idea how to achieve that :)...
Maybe if he stonework under the arch was made darker? or a slightly different hue so that it didn't compete with the same colours in the statue.
These are trifling crits by the way.. getting right into detail - I like the composition and the striking colours... and I think we can get away with calling the manipulation an enhancement. :)

I like the image, the statue looks rather strange to me or should I say its colour, it has a painted feel to it.. the rest is good. all good.. Love the greens.......
